Quincy Jones May Steer Tupac Biopic
May 30 [7:55 EDT] -- Veteran record producer Quincy Jones,
whose daughter Kidada was a girlfriend of the late rapper
Tupac Shakur, says he's close to a deal with Tupac's mother,
Afeni Shakur, that will allow him to make a movie about her
son's life.
The film will apparently also cover some of Afeni's years
as a Black Panther, and her struggles with drug addiction.
If the deal goes through, Jones' Tupac biopic would be the
second such project in development. The other is being
produced by actress and Shakur friend Jasmine Guy.
If you actually want to see Tupac himself, there's already
a Shakur documentary available in video stores called
"Tupac Shakur: Thug Immortal." The video hit the
market last week, and went on to sell some 40,000 copies
making it one of the country's top-five sellers by the
Videoscan charting service. ["Thug Immortal
Excerpt", 900k QuickTime]
"Thug Immortal" also includes a CD interview
with Shakur that was done last August.
